Financial Literacy

Program Information

HBCU Money Masters is a groundbreaking initiative designed by KR Scholars to equip HBCU students with essential financial literacy skills. Our impactful virtual sessions, open to all HBCU students, cover important financial education topics such as budgeting, savings, credit, investing, and student loan education. With a staggering 86% of HBCU students relying on financial aid, our program addresses the urgent need for enhanced financial literacy, empowering students to navigate their financial futures with confidence and resilience. Statistics say that only 1 in 9 students will take a standalone Personal Finance course prior to graduation. This number dips significantly among students in schools with 75%+ Black and Brown students.

We recognize the critical importance of financial literacy, particularly for students attending HBCUs. In communities where access to financial education may have been limited and historical inequities persist, our financial literacy program serves as a beacon of empowerment and opportunity. We understand that many of our students may not have been exposed to foundational financial knowledge, and we aim to bridge this gap by offering comprehensive resources and support.

Our program is not just about balancing budgets and managing debt; it's about equipping the next generation with the tools to build generational wealth and break cycles of economic hardship. Through interactive workshops and tailored resources, we empower HBCU students to make informed financial decisions, invest in their futures, and create pathways to prosperity for themselves and their communities.

We believe that there is always more to learn, and we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve financial independence and success.
