Meet our Scholarship Recipients

Jessica Grimes is a true inspiration. As a 4x KR Scholar, she exemplifies the resilience, dedication, and excellence that define what it means to be a KR Scholar. From a young age, Jessica was driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact. After graduating from Fisk University this past spring, she took the next bold step in her journey by enrolling at Meharry Medical College—one of only five historically Black medical schools in the U.S.—to pursue a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

KR SCHOLARS SPOTLIGHT

Meharry Scholarship Recipient and Future Dentist

The path to medical school is not without its challenges, and Jessica is no stranger to the financial burdens that come with it. KR Scholars is honored to support her with a $10,000 scholarship, helping to alleviate some of the financial pressures she faces. This support is more than just financial—it’s part of a larger mission to increase representation in a field where Black dentists make up less than 4% of all practicing dentists in the U.S.

Jessica’s journey is a testament to perseverance and the power of community support. Her passion for healthcare and her commitment to giving back are inspiring examples of what KR Scholars aims to cultivate in every student. Thanks to the generosity of donors and partners, Jessica is empowered to continue her path toward becoming a leader in the dental field.
