Bank of America’s Richmond BPG Partners with KR Scholars to Prepare Youth for Career Success

July 1, 2025

At KR Scholars, we understand that mastering interview skills is a cornerstone of career readiness—especially for HBCU-bound students stepping into competitive professional environments for the first time. That’s why we partnered with the Bank of America Richmond Black Professional Group (BPG) for an intensive Interview Fundamentals & Mock Interview workshop as part of The HBCU Bridge Summer Edition.

During this focused session, 20 scholars from across Richmond dove deep into:

Interview Fundamentals: Learning how to craft compelling introductions, use effective body language, and ask insightful questions
Mock Interviews: Rotating through real-world interview stations, each student practiced responses to common and behavioral questions, then received personalized feedback from seasoned BPG volunteers
By emphasizing both the “what” and the “how” of interviewing, students left with:

Practical Confidence: Hands-on practice reduced anxiety and built self-assurance
Targeted Feedback: Actionable insights on strengths and growth areas
Professional Mindset: Clear strategies for preparation, follow-up, and etiquette
This workshop embodies KR Scholars’ commitment to upskilling HBCU students—bridging academic knowledge with the interpersonal competencies that employers value. Our partnership with Bank of America Richmond BPG not only provided technical expertise but also showcased the power of mentorship and networking.

As the summer program continues, scholars will build on these interview foundations through upcoming modules in financial literacy, digital skills, and a culminating showcase at Top Golf on August 5. Together, we’re equipping Richmond’s next generation of HBCU leaders with the tools, confidence, and connections they need to launch successful careers.
