KR Scholars’ HBCU Bridge Program Provides $250 in College Transition Support to 26 RPS Graduating Seniors

June 3, 2026
The journey to college does not end with an acceptance letter. For many students and families, the transition from high school to higher education comes with significant expenses, including dorm room essentials, bedding, storage items, school supplies, and other necessities needed to begin college successfully.
To help ease that burden, KR Scholars proudly provided $250 in college transition support to 26 Richmond Public Schools graduating seniors through The HBCU Bridge Program. This support helped students secure essential items needed for move-in day and ensured they could begin their college experience with greater confidence and peace of mind.
The HBCU Starter Kit Initiative reflects KR Scholars' commitment to supporting students beyond graduation. While scholarships remain an important part of our work, we recognize that student success requires more than financial assistance for tuition. Students also need practical resources and support as they navigate the transition to college life.
These 26 students represent the next generation of leaders, changemakers, and professionals who are pursuing higher education and creating brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. By investing in their success from graduation through move-in day, KR Scholars continues to remove barriers and create pathways to opportunity.
We are proud to stand alongside these students as they begin their college journeys and look forward to celebrating their continued success in the years ahead. Through programs like The HBCU Bridge, KR Scholars remains committed to empowering student success beyond graduation through college access, workforce readiness, and financial education opportunities.
