Herndon Foundation Grant Expands KR Scholars’ HBCU Bridge Program to Empower High School Students on the Path to HBCUs

November 5, 2025

KR Scholars is proud to announce a new grant from the Herndon Foundation in support of the organization’s flagship initiative, The HBCU Bridge Program. This investment expands KR Scholars’ mission to strengthen the pipeline from high school to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
KR Scholars leads The HBCU Bridge Program in partnership with Richmond Public Schools to prepare local high school students for college and career success. The program offers college readiness training, financial literacy education, and career exploration experiences designed to help students build confidence, clarity, and a vision for their future.
Through this generous grant, KR Scholars will be able to provide more resources to students, expand program access, and continue empowering the next generation of HBCU scholars. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to educational equity and ensuring that every student—regardless of background—has the tools and support to succeed in college and beyond.
KR Scholars extends heartfelt gratitude to the Herndon Foundation for believing in the power of access, education, and community investment. Together, we’re building a stronger pathway from high school to HBCUs—and helping students see what’s possible.
