KR Scholars Founder Joins Prestigious Goldman Sachs Program

August 15, 2025
Help us celebrate a major milestone for KR Scholars! Our founder, Kristen Johnson, has been selected through a highly competitive process for the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program — a signature initiative of Goldman Sachs designed to advance the economic empowerment of Black women.
Launched as part of the firm’s historic $10 billion commitment to address the dual disproportionate gender and racial biases that Black women have faced for generations, the program provides entrepreneurs with intensive training, access to capital, and long-term mentorship to help them scale and sustain their businesses.
Through this transformative opportunity, Kristen will participate in a comprehensive curriculum covering business growth strategies, financial management, marketing, and leadership development — all while connecting with a powerful network of fellow Black women entrepreneurs and industry experts.
This experience will directly strengthen KR Scholars’ ability to scale our mission of empowering HBCU students through scholarships, college readiness, workforce readiness, and financial literacy. By leveraging the resources and knowledge gained through the program, we will be better positioned to expand our impact, deepen community partnerships, and increase opportunities for the students we serve.
We are proud to see Kristen’s leadership recognized on a national stage and look forward to the positive ripple effects this achievement will bring to the HBCU community and beyond.
