KR Scholars Offers Free College Access through the Common Black College Application

October 13, 2025
At KR Scholars, we believe access should never be a barrier to opportunity. That’s why we are proud to provide free access to the Common Black College Application (CBCA), giving students the ability to apply to 50+ Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with one application—at no cost.
✅ One application
✅ 50+ HBCUs
✅ No application fees
✅ Unlimited opportunity
Through this initiative, KR Scholars is covering the application fee for students in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas, Charlotte, NC, and Conway, SC to remove financial barriers to college access. This opportunity is available to incoming college freshmen and transfer students who are eager to explore higher education at an HBCU.
Why This Matters
College application fees can quickly add up, often limiting students’ options. According to EducationData.org, families spend an average of $100–$250 on college application fees alone. That cost should never be the reason a student is denied opportunity. KR Scholars is helping eliminate that barrier so students can focus on what matters most—building their future.
HBCUs have a long history of producing leaders:
70% of Black doctors and dentists are HBCU graduates
80% of Black judges attended HBCUs
50% of Black lawyers started at HBCUs
HBCU students are 72% more likely to move into the middle class (UNCF)
